Overview of PIPS organisation
Tenovus Cancer Care is Wales’ leading cancer care charity. We provide a number of services including counselling, benefits advice, a cancer support line and mobile chemotherapy units. All our work is underpinned by insight into the cancer landscape in Wales.
Placement offered | |
We are very interested in how publicly available data can be used to identify areas of need in cancer care within Wales. Previous reports written by PIPS students have been used to shape our policy and activities. This placement would aim to compare cancer mortality rates in Wales to those in England, with a view to identifying why Wales is performing poorer in cancer care than its closest neighbour. We would use this 12 week placement to identify comparable data sources, identify patterns which are leading to poorer cancer outcomes and make recommendations for improvements.
Person specification | |
We are looking for someone with research skills who has experience in identifying reliable sources of information. Some knowledge of basic statistical tests is desirable and the candidate would need to be proficient at reporting complex data in a clear and concise way for a lay audience.
Financial contribution/benefit(s)
We will provide any travel costs incurred if the student is required to travel to head office in Cardiff. |
