SWDTP student Sarah Jose took part in a “I’m a Scientist: Get me out of here” event.
Sarah was answering questions from school children about food security, nutrition and general scientific research. The students watched a play addressing malnutrition in both developing and developed countries, then went online to learn more from a panel of scientists.
I’m a Scientist is a free online event where school students get to meet and interact with scientists.
Sarah said, “It was great to answer such a wide range of questions from the students and discover what they found were the most important issues. I would definitely recommend getting involved in public engagement with schools to other PhD students because it really helps you to develop the skills needed to explain your research and science in an accessible way”.
